Warm milk, a pinch of saffron, maybe a few crushed almonds. Let it sit a few minutes, and the milk turns a soft gold on its own no shortcuts needed.
Heat the milk, drop in a few strands of saffron, and walk away for a minute. When you come back, it'll have gone that pale amber colour saffron is known for, and the smell will already be filling the kitchen.
Add crushed almonds or a bit of sugar if you want, but honestly it holds up fine on its own.
Heat the milk on a low flame until it's warm, not boiling.
Drop in the saffron strands; let them sit in the warm milk for 2–3 minutes.
Stir in sugar or jaggery; add cardamom powder if you're using it.
Pour into a glass, top with crushed almonds or pistachios, drink warm.
A few strands change everything colour, aroma, flavour. Shop real saffron for your kitchen.
